Injured Employees | Frequently Asked Questions

Many questions can be answered through the chat feature in the lower right corner of this website. This is a way for you to get information quickly and easily, such as your adjuster’s contact information, upcoming appointments, the status of medical referrals, and the status of lost-wage payments.

If you need additional information, you should contact your adjuster. Your adjuster is a claims specialist who will keep you informed on the status of your claim, make sure you receive the care you need, and answer any questions you may have. For your convenience, you can text your adjuster by opting in to our texting service. To get started, simply reply “yes” to the text you receive from Summit. If you prefer a call or require in-depth discussion, you can reach your adjuster by calling 1-800-282-7644.

If your injury keeps you out of work, you may qualify for lost-wage compensation. Benefits vary from state to state. View additional details about the benefit types that may be available to you. Call your adjuster with any additional questions you have about these benefits and how they apply to you.

Your doctor will provide appropriate medical treatment and will give you a plan so that you know how long it will take to recover. Your doctor will also let you know when you can return to work and provide any restrictions while you are healing.

Please call your adjuster for help in finding a doctor.

Some healthcare providers in our network offer telemedicine—medical care provided remotely by secure video conference. This option may be available to you. Please call your adjuster for help in finding a provider who offers these services.

You are not responsible for any costs associated with your pre-approved treatment. We will pay your pre-approved medical bills. If you receive any medical bills, do not pay them. Instead, please call your adjuster. You can also inform the doctor that treatment is for a work injury or illness.

The pharmacy will bill us directly. You are not responsible for prescription costs associated with your claim. View more information regarding prescriptions.

You can be reimbursed for mileage to and from pre-approved medical appointments. However, the amount of mileage reimbursement varies by state. You can find state specific Travel Expense Reimbursement forms on our Claims Forms page or your adjuster can help you file for this reimbursement.

Please call your adjuster. We may be able to arrange transportation for you at no cost. If possible, please give us at least 48 hours notice prior to your medical appointment. Also, see above to find out if telemedicine is an option for you.
