Medical Care

In case of emergency

If you have a medical emergency, have someone call 911 or take you to the nearest emergency room. Be sure your employer is notified about the situation. Your supervisor or another responsible person should call Summit at 1-800-762-7811 as soon as possible. Summit will coordinate additional care for you as needed.

Non-emergency care

For cases that don’t require emergency care, you should still tell your supervisor about your injury or illness right away. Your supervisor should call Summit at 1-800-762-7811 to report your injury and get approval for you to be treated.

Your employer and a Summit representative will help you find a physician that is best suited to treat your injury. We will handle all of the paperwork to get you started. And, we’ll work with your doctor to set up any additional treatment you need, so you can get back to work as soon as possible.

Blood-borne pathogen exposure claims

If your reported claim involves a potential blood-borne pathogen exposure (such as a needle stick), and you have any questions, please call 1-800-282-7644 and ask to speak with a nurse case manager.

Medical care related to your on-the-job injury will be provided at no cost to you. This could include approved surgical, hospital and dental care, prescriptions, and medical supplies (through Summit’s in-network medical providers).

Summit (or one of our affiliate companies) will pay bills for approved services, and you will never have to pay a deductible. If you receive a bill for approved services related to your compensable workers’ comp claim, do not pay it. Instead, please call the Summit Claims Center or mail the bill to the following address:
