Important reminder for Florida, Kentucky and Louisiana employers

Be sure to give injured employees a workers’ compensation identification card to present to the treating medical facility. Check your Claims Kit or print a card now. If you need more cards, please contact the Claims Center in your region.

OSHA notification requirements

All employers are required to notify OSHA in the event of an on-the-job death or if an employee suffers a work-related hospitalization, amputation or eye loss.

Important notification deadlines:

Per OSHA's Recordkeeping Regulation, 29 C.F.R. § 1904.39 (2018):

  • An on-the-job death must be reported within eight hours.
  • An on-the-job amputation, eye loss or in-patient hospitalization must be reported within 24 hours.

How to notify OSHA:

  • Call OSHA's toll-free and confidential number at 1-800-321-OSHA (6742).
  • In person by visiting the nearest OSHA office.
