OSHA’s new requirements for reporting severe injuries and updated list of industries exempt from record-keeping requirements

Beginning January 1, 2015, employers will be required to comply with new Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) recordkeeping rule revisions that:

  1. update the list of industries that are exempt from keeping OSHA injury and illness records, and
  2. expand the list of severe work injuries that all non-exempt employers must report to OSHA within 24 hours to include work-related hospitalizations, amputations or loss of an eye.
