Heritage Summit HealthCare Inc. Contracts with Mayo Clinic for Workers’ Compensation CareLakeland, Fla. (June 24, 2009)—Heritage Summit HealthCare Inc. announced today that it has added Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, to its provider network. The agreement with Heritage is Mayo Clinic’s first with a workers’ compensation-only provider network. Heritage is a subsidiary of Florida’s largest workers’ comp provider, Summit Consulting Inc. Injured workers covered by Summit-managed carriers now have access to the comprehensive medical procedures and specialized medical professionals for which Mayo Clinic is world renowned. “We’re thrilled to welcome Mayo Clinic to our network. Mayo’s reputation for high-quality treatment and groundbreaking research is a perfect fit for handling often complex work-related injuries,” said Jeff Hinson, Summit’s vice president of Medical Claims. “Having access to Mayo and its resources really strengthens our provider network not only in Duval County, but across our entire operating territory.” Mayo Clinic’s dedicated workers’ compensation program in Jacksonville is led by Robert M. Chapa, M.D., a leader in Florida’s workers’ comp medical community. The Workers’ Compensation Specialty Care Program at Mayo Clinic offers an integrated approach to medical care with patients having access to a multidisciplinary team of specialists trained to identify and treat even the most complicated work-related injuries. “We are delighted that Heritage Summit HealthCare has recognized Mayo Clinic’s expertise with respect to integrated care and look forward to working with their clients,” said Dr. Chapa. “Our commitment to quality care means that our patients will receive a prompt and accurate prognosis, which will save both the employer and employee time and money.” In Florida, Heritage operates as a managed-care arrangement for workers’ comp. This means that employers insured with Summit-managed carriers send their injured workers to medical doctors and facilities within the Heritage network. Heritage ensures quality care by accepting only medical providers and facilities that have passed an in-depth credentialing process. Heritage contracts with approximately 4,500 doctors, hospitals, clinics and ancillary specialty services in Florida alone. About Heritage Summit HealthCare, Inc. About Mayo Clinic About Summit |
