The Heritage Summit HealthCare managed-care network provides medical services for injured workers covered through workers' compensation insurance programs managed by Summit in the state of Florida. Our network has approximately 4,200 providers. This includes hospitals, walk-in clinics and specialists such as orthopedists, neurologists, internists, surgeons and others.
A unique feature of a managed-care arrangement is the medical care coordinator, who is a primary-care physician assigned to manage the treatment of an injured worker according to established medical standards. This coordinator determines which other specialists injured workers need to visit for treatment of work-related injuries.
A managed-care arrangement also has a grievance procedure for workers who feel that their medical care is inadequate in any way.
