Managed Care
Summit is committed to quality managed care through superior medical-case management services and a statewide managed-care network.

The Heritage Summit HealthCare managed-care network provides medical services for claimants covered through workers' compensation insurance programs managed by Summit. Our network has approximately 4,200 providers. This includes hospitals, walk-in clinics and specialists such as orthopedists, neurologists, internists, surgeons and others.

What is a managed-care arrangement?
A managed-care arrangement is a network of health-care providers and medical case management services certified by the state of Florida through the Agency for Health Care Administration. Employer participation in managed-care arrangements for work-related injuries is mandated by law.

What is special about a managed-care arrangement?
Managed-care arrangements cut workers' compensation insurance costs by controlling medical costs that arise from work-related injuries.

A unique feature of a managed-care arrangement is the medical care coordinator, who is a primary-care physician assigned to manage the treatment of an injured worker according to established medical standards. This coordinator determines which other specialists injured workers need to visit for treatment of work-related injuries.

A managed-care arrangement also has a grievance procedure for workers who feel that their medical care is inadequate in any way.
